Crew

The undergraduate students on our crew are the heart and soul of the Student Organic Farm.  Through their work here, students gain valuable hands on experience producing organic fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs, as well as a deeper understanding of organic farming, food, and community.

Abbie Faber

Abbie is a Junior studying Dietetics at MSU. After graduation, she hopes to become an Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian and help young girls improve their relationship with food and their body image. She enjoys being outside on the farm, learning about growing organic food, and taking fruits and vegetables home to make delicious dinners.

Amanda Cullin

Amanda Cullin is a senior at MSU studying Environmental Studies and Sustainability. She started working at the farm during the summer of 2020, and absolutely loves working outdoors. A few of her favorite things about the farm are finding the occasional praying mantis and harvesting radishes! 
 In her free time Amanda loves to go running, hiking, and kayaking! She also loves gardening and taking care of her house plants.

Conor Crennell

Conor is a senior studying Biosystems Engineering at MSU. Passionate about environmental issues, he believes sustainable agriculture is crucial to achieving harmony with nature. He is happy to learn about all the facets of running a farm and hopes to have his own regenerative operation and restaurant someday. His hobbies include cooking, daydreaming, and counting down the days until summer!

Eryn Lippitt

​Eryn is a junior studying Sustainable Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. She hopes to become a park ranger one day! Eryn’s favorite things to do on the farm are getting to spend time outside, seeding, and harvesting herbs! Outside of farming and school, Eryn enjoys hiking and going on adventures with her friends!

Ethan Zerger

Ethan Zerger is a Junior studying Environmental Studies and Sustainability. He loves working at the farm because he gets to spend quality time outdoors and loves growing produce people can enjoy! He loves learning new things about agriculture every time he shows up for work and helping out where ever he can.

Erin Rau

Erin is a senior studying Environmental Studies and Sustainability, with a minor in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems. Erin loves working at the SOF because she is always learning new things, gets to be outside, and likes to spend time with the rest of the Crew. One day she wants to work on educating communities about building more resilient food systems. Outside of school and farming, Erin is also on the MSU competitive cheer team.

Lauren House

Lauren is a junior studying both Arts and Humanities and Sustainable Agriculture. She loves spending time outdoors and enjoys hiking, fishing, camping, and swimming in her free time. Lauren is incredibly passionate about sustainable farming methods, and hopes to one day live on a cozy homestead surrounded by lots of happy little plants and animals :) Before settling down Lauren aspires to thru-hike the Appalachian trail, working on different farms as she travels. Her favorite part of working at the SOF (besides our lovely farm cat Trout of course), is harvesting all of the delicious fruits and veggies grown there.

Lauren Shaffner

Lauren Shaffner is a sophomore studying environmental sustainability. She grew up in Midland on a family farm and agriculture has always been very special to her. Lauren enjoys getting outside, spending time with her bunny, cooking, reading, and is always on the hunt for a good candle. She really enjoys working at the farm. It’s a beautiful place and one of her favorite things is seeing the sun shine on the crops in the morning. Agriculture is the foundation of life and she's so grateful to be apart of the SOF and the awesome work we do here.

Lydia Mehlhose
Lydia Mehlhose loves being a farmer! She is a senior at MSU studying environmental studies and sustainability. She is also involved in the Spartan Sierra Club where she serves as the education chair. Lydia is very excited about providing sustainable, organic food for her community! She hopes to work with wildlife one day, restoring habitats and conserving natural areas.

Nevaeh Marshall

​Nevaeh Marshall is a current undergraduate student at Michigan State University studying Horticulture and Environmental Studies and Sustainability. They spend their free time participating in their native American culture, painting, and studying. Her favorite thing at the farm is the CSA program and trout, the farm cat.

Kate Kelly

​Kate is a senior at MSU studying Environmental Biology/Plant Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies and Sustainability. She started working at the SOF in September and has since developed a keen interest in organic farming! Kate is also an education intern through the Potter Park Zoo and enjoys hiking, reading and learning new recipes with all the different farm veggies!
