Name (first):
Lisa
Name (last):
Jaroch
SOF Role:
OFTP Student
Bio:

Lisa was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Michigan along with her seven siblings. She comes to the Student Organic Farm after working in southeast Michigan for fifteen years as a Landscape Architect.  While working in Detroit developing neighborhood improvement plans, paralleled by a regional spotlight on urban agriculture, she was inspired to move in a new direction.  She spent her youth amongst orchards and farms where a love for plants, animals and gardening was fostered, MSU’s SOF offered the perfect match to develop new skills and explore new opportunities.

In the future, she aims to professionally design and facilitate urban and rural agricultural projects to enable viable healthy sustainable communities.  On a personal level, she plans on homesteading while building a community supported agricultural operation.  Her and her husband dream of having a LEED certified farm utilizing geo-thermal heat, solar and wind power, as well as a variety of energy saving techniques to enable living primarily off the grid.  Lisa intends to utilize her landscape architectural skills and background in fine arts to create a unique and beautiful farmscape.

Lisa is honored and excited to be a part of the Student Organic Farm.  She looks forward to growing and learning while farming full time with a wonderful group of diverse and talented people.
